Portal For The US Department Of Commerce

Efficient, easy to use on-line central information source for Florida Exporters and foreign buyers

The new Florida Export Resource Portal (FERP) was announced today by John McCartney, Director of the U.S. Export Assistance Center, a department of the Department of Commerce’s Business Assistance Center located in Miami. The FERP provides Florida exporters and foreign buyers with an Internet-based one-stop central information center for a wide range of export-related services. The web Portal was created by Digital Media Network, Inc., a Fort Lauderdale based company specialized in global business strategies and solutions.

"Our new portal offers our members and visitors an incredibly rich, tangible amount of information. The design of the site allows us to quickly and easily update the site via the Internet. This ensures that our users are constantly up-to date on latest export regulations, news and events,” said Jorge Arce, Senior Trade Specialist, U.S. Commercial Services in Miami.

John McCartney, Director, U.S. Export Assistance Center added:  "We are very excited about the portal and we look forward to building the site into a single-source resource for our DEC members, exporters and buyers that quickly becomes the benchmark in its category”- “The basic idea is to enable users to quickly get all the information they need to get started exporting and purchasing from Florida based companies,” said Mr. McCartney.

The Florida Export Resource Portal’s most valuable feature is a robust search engine that allows exporters and buyers to locate organizations based on service offerings.  “A buyer in Honduras can log on and quickly find a company specializing in logistics and supply chain management. This will represent an easy-to use tool to bring people together and promote business,” said Garett A. Bugda, a strategic developer for the site’s development company.

In addition to a robust search engine and a cross-referenced service matrix that makes finding an exporting specialist quick and easy, the site provides an ample amount of exporting news, regulations, trade events and informational links on the Internet. This will enable site visitors to research mission-critical information for their business needs.

The site, located at www.floridaexporter.com, was launched in early spring 2003 and was created by South Florida eBusiness developers Digital Media Network, Inc., Fort Lauderdale. Digital Media Network provided services to the Business Assistance Center as part of a joint partnership to promote South Florida as a business hub to Europe, the Caribbean, South and Central America.  More information can be found about the company at www.digitalmedianetwork.com.
